My Blog

July 11th 2010

It's the middle of the summer!
I was noticing that I hadn't written any thing in my blog since January!  I'm not good at keeping a diary either.

So tomorrow many of my students will be going to the Great Midwestern String Clinic.  I know all of you wil have a good time!  Charlie and Liz and Michelle and the gang do a bang up job teachng and getting every one enthused about music!  I will be looking forward to the Concert next Friday!

Many of kids are away on vacation this month.  Just a reminder that you should practice when you're in town, even if it's just some fun stuff!  Esspecially the fun stuff! Do some fiddling and some of your favorites!  That way it doesn't seem like work and you're still keeping your fingers and mind working!

Have a great rest of the summer!  School will be here before you know it!

Winter is here with a vengeance!
Well, with the snow today and the cold tonight and tomorrow (30 to 40 degrees with the wind chill factor) we are all stuck home.  Snow Day!!!  If you students think your the only one who likes snow days, think again!  This is my chance to get caught up with my blog here on the web-site.  I have so much going on that most of the time I forget to write anything!  I was chided by my sister that I should put some new pictures and stuff on the web-site to make it more interesting so I have.
I don't take the time to tell every one how much all of your love and support mean to me!  I would like to tell you all what a blessing you have been to me through the years!  When I first started teaching I had no idea that I would make so many wonderful friends like I have.  Thank You for your friendship!

Spring Time
The flowers are blooming and spring is here!  Recital time for almost everyone is over! (Just one more this coming Sunday May th)  Everyone is busy planning their summer vacations and camps.  There are lots of opportunities to play your instruments this summer so don't forget to practice!  Ask me if your looking for a place to play!  It's a great way to keep the fingers and mind from getting too rusty over the summer!   Have a great one!

Your teacher,
Miss E

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays Everyone!
Snow is on the ground and it isn't even offically winter here yet!

I want to wish every one a great vacation from school and to remind every one that I will only be giving lessons at home Dec. 26th and 27th.  Saturday the 22nd I will be at Griggs.  The rest of the time you get to relax (but don't forget to play your instruments for your family and friends!  This is the time to do it!)

I will see every one starting on Jan. 3rd with their regular schedules.

Email me or call to set up lessons for the week after Christmas!

Festival of Trees is just around the Corner!

November 20 is the date of the "Fun Foundations in Strings" Studio Concert. Put it on the calendar that we will also be playing at different Nursing Homes on the Second Sunday in December.  Every one who is playing that day will be invited along with their parents and brothers and sister to come have homemade soup and cookies after we play that Sunday.

Every year I think that "this the last year" because it is so exhausting to get things ready each year!  But then when I think of how much fun they all have and how much they improve each year working so hard to make every go right I know that I can't quite.

Music history is Niffty!
Well I've started a new project!  I am writing a overview of Music History to hand out to my students.  I've tried to find something to hand out that would be appropriate for elementary and middle school students and would still be interesting to a high school student.  I haven't been able to find any thing on-line or in the Music stores that I feel is just right so I have decided to write it myself.  It's my-self imposed "term paper".

So if I haven't given you the 1st 2 "chapters"  let me know so that I can get them to you!

Exciting Additions to the Website!
I'm so excited about the great changes for the student area of my website.  It's still under construction and it still has some bugs, but there are lots of niffty things to help keep tract of important dates and times and information.  I'm trying to get pictures taken of every one so if I haven't gotten your picture taken yet let me know!
